André Léri

André Léri

André Léri (1875 - September 8, 1930} was a French neurologist who was born in Paris. He received he doctorate in 1904 from the University of Paris where he studied under Joseph Babinski (1857-1932) and Pierre Marie (1853-1940). During World War I, Léri was in charge of diagnosing soldiers with battle-inflicted neuroses.

Although skilled in the field of neurology, Léri is mainly remembered for his contributions made in osteology, especially his research concerning bone disorders. He described a type of mesomelic dwarfism combined with deformed forearms, which was to become known as Léri-Weill dyschondrosteosis.With Pierre Marie, the Marie-Léri syndrome is named, which is a rare hand disorder caused by osteolysis.
