"Leptoconops" is a genus of biting midges, the sole genus of subfamily Leptoconopinae. The larvae are recognized by their unique sclerites of the head, and by their mouthparts, also unique among the Ceratopogonidae. Some authorities place this genus in its own family, Leptoconopidae.
