Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management

The Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) is the professional body which represents and supports ecologists and environmental managers, mainly in the United Kingdom but increasingly in Ireland and Europe, and the rest of the world.

Established in 1991, IEEM has around 3500 members drawn from local authorities, government agencies, industry, environmental consultancy, teaching/research, and NGOs.

Activities of IEEM

IEEM provides a variety of services to develop the competency and standards of professional ecologists and environmental managers and also promote ecology and environmental management as a profession.

IEEM is a constituent body of the Society for the Environment and the [http://www.efaep.org European Federation of Associations of Environmental Professionals] . IEEM is also a member of the [http://www.europarc.org Europarc Federation] , [http://www.eurosite.org Eurosite] , and the [http://www.iucn-uk.org IUCN-UK Committee] . It is also a signatory of the [http://www.countdown2010.net/ Countdown 2010] agreement to help save biodiversity.
