- Château Dauzac
-
Château Dauzac is a winery in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux region of France. The wine produced here was classified as one of eighteen Cinquièmes Crus (Fifth Growths) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.[1] It is currently managed by winemaker André Lurton.[2]
In the 1880s, the trials which led to the development of the Bordeaux mixture to combat downy mildew were primarily conducted in the vineyards of Château Dauzac. They were conducted by professor Pierre-Marie-Alexis Millardet who was assisted by Ernest David, who was technical director of Dauzac.
Dauzac has 99 acres (40 ha) planted with Cabernet Sauvignon 58%, Merlot 37% and Cabernet Franc 5%. The age of vines is between 18 to 20 years. The Château produces a second wine named La Bastide de Dauzac.
