Character background

Max Giambetti has been working for Sonny Corinthos as a Guard for seven years (offscreen for the first three) until one day when he lies to Sonny about a matter to provide a cover for Sonny's on-again off-again wife, Carly Corinthos. When Max is fired by Sonny, Carly hires him to work as Head of Security at her hotel, Metro Court. Soon after, Sonny has a change of heart and re-hires Max.

On October 16 2007, Max saves Carly from a letter-opener wielding Nikolas Cassadine, who has yet another blackout/violent outburst, remembering nothing afterward. Carly accuses Max of betraying her. Later that evening Max ends up drowning his sorrows at the Metro Court alongside Diane Miller, who just had a frustrating exchange with Sonny over attorney/client privilege, among other things. After finding the cardkey from his days as head of security at the hotel in his wallet the two end up in an unoccupied room of the hotel about to make love. But Max couldn't bring himself to "cheat on Mrs. C" and left.

The next day Max ends up informing Sonny of Carly's ordeal with Nikolas, nervously dancing around the details of his near sexual romp with Diane. Since then, he has seemed to have gotten over his long time crush for Carly and moved on to Diane. He often asks about her and give her looks whenever he sees her.

After Michael Corinthos was shot by Ian Devlin in a botched hit meant for Sonny, during a moment of grief Max had sex with Diane Miller and has since been seeing her. Alexis Davis walked in on him and Diane and she has not approved of their relationship. When Sonny found out he forbade Diane to see Max, going so far as to threaten to send Max to Puerto Rico permanently. After that Max finally stood up to Sonny and told him to stay out of his personal life.

Jason told Max that he did not care if Diane and him saw each other after he took over the mob for Sonny as long as it did not affect their jobs or waste his time and he did not catch them making out in his office ever again which greatly pleased Max.
