Islamia College (Warangal)

Islamia College is an educational institution located in the city of Warangal, India. It is one of the oldest institutions in the city of Warangal, and it has given birth to many other educational institutions.

The famous L.B. College, Pothana College and Kaktiya Degree College started in this campus. The founder of this institution was Hazrat Syed Mohammed Hussaini Haji Saheb. It was established in the year 1889. Mr Abdul Khader Advocate has been attached to this institution for 50 years. Dr M.A. Rasheed Nawazi worked as a Principal of the institution for more than 20 years. He was a great Islamic scholar. Since 1987, famous writer Dr Mohd Bahadur Ali has worked as Principal of the college. In the year 2006, famous poet Dr Azeez Ahmed Ursi took charge as Principal. Islamia Junior College is a separate unit running successfully under the leadership of Dr Mohd Ateequddin. The former Junior College principal was Mr Mahboob Ahmed Mahmoodi. The college has a great secular character. Former Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University, Prof. T. Vasudev was a student of this institution. Recently the management of the college started Islamia Public School. The college has a unique feature. It is the only college in Andhra Pradesh running three faculties in only Urdu Medium. This college is recognised by Government, Kakatiya University and the University Grants Commission of India. The college is getting full aid from Government of Andhra Pradesh and UGC. Few years back the college celebrated its centenary. Dr Y.S. Rajshekhar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, blessed the function.
