The district Tha Pla was originally part of
Nan Province . In 1923 it was reassigned to Uttaradit Province.Geography
Neighboring districts are (from the east clockwise) Fak Tha, Nam Pat, Thong Saen Khan and Mueang Uttaradit of Uttaradit Province, Den Chai, Sung Men and Mueang Phrae of
Phrae Province , and Na Muen ofNan Province .The main river of the district is the
Nan River , with theSirikit Dam creating a 250 km² artificial lake. ThePat River joins the Nan shortly below the dam.Administration
The district is subdivided into 8 subdistricts ("
tambon "), which are further subdivided into 84 villages ("muban "). Tha Pla and Ruam Chit are both subdistrict municipalities ("thesaban tambon "), covering parts of the same-named "tambon". There are further 8Tambon administrative organization s (TAO).External links
