India , seeAji River, Gujarat "The Aji River, Aji Chai or Talkheh Rud ( _fa. تلخه رود) is a river inEast Azerbaijan ,Iran . Its water isalkali due to high mineralization and low rainfall. It is the largest river that discharges intoLake Urmia . It arises aboveSarab from the slopes ofMount Bozgush and Mount Sabalan. Its tributary, the sweet water Komur River (Mehran River), joins the Aji inTabriz .The Iranian government has under development a program to alter the watercourse of the Aji from the alkali lands to make its water usable for agriculture. As part of this project, a dam, the Madani Dam, is being constructed on the Aji above Tabriz, on the back side of Eynali mountain.
