:"For river of same name in Gujarat, India, see Aji River, Gujarat"The Aji River, Aji Chai or Talkheh Rud ( _fa. تلخه رود) is a river in East Azerbaijan, Iran. Its water is alkali due to high mineralization and low rainfall. It is the largest river that discharges into Lake Urmia. It arises above Sarab from the slopes of Mount Bozgush and Mount Sabalan. Its tributary, the sweet water Komur River (Mehran River), joins the Aji in Tabriz.

The Iranian government has under development a program to alter the watercourse of the Aji from the alkali lands to make its water usable for agriculture. As part of this project, a dam, the Madani Dam, is being constructed on the Aji above Tabriz, on the back side of Eynali mountain.
