Jeff Morris (Washington politician)

Jeff Morris is a member of the Washington State legislature, representing Mt. Vernon, Washington as a Democrat. He took office on January 8, 2007. He is a member of the Tsimshian Indian nation. He is chairman of the Council of State Governments, West.

Representative Jeff Morris is a fourth generation native of the San Juans. He was elected to the State House of Representatives in 1996 where he serves as Chair of the House Committee on Technology, Energy, and Communications.

As Director of the Northwest Energy Technology Collaborative (NWETC), headquartered at the Washington Technology Center, Jeff and his team work to accelerate growth of the energy-technology industry in the region. The U.S. Department of Energy recently recognized his achievements by naming him a "West Coast Power Player".

In addition to his duties as chair House Committee on Technology, Energy, and Communications, Jeff serves on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government & Audit Review. He recently chaired the five corner task force to keep Boeing 7e7 manufacturing in Washington State and lead the fight to establish the Washington State Life Science Fund. Speaker Frank Chopp appointed Jeff to the Board of Directors of the Life Science Fund’s billion dollar program.

Jeff is also Chair of the Council of State Governments West, a past President of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region, and previously served as Political Director for U.S. Representative Al Swift. His legislative contributions were internationally recognized by the Canadian Consulate for eliminating barriers to commerce between the two countries. Jeff graduated as a Toll Fellow from the Council of State Governments Distinguished Leadership Program.
