Raised inSeattle, Washington , Angel attended inner-city public schools there, then worked on freight trains for the Union Pacific Railroad as he earned his bachelor's degree at theUniversity of Washington . Later he received a Master of Fine Arts degree from theUniversity of California, Irvine .
