It derives either from the name Jodocus, which can ultimately be traced back to St. Judoc, a Breton saint in the sixth century, or from the Ancient Roman name Justus [http://www.meertens.knaw.nl/voornamen/VNB/index.php?act=zoeken&id=10296 Meertens Instituut database of first names (Dutch)] ] .
