- Duncan Lawrie International Dagger
-
The Duncan Lawrie International Dagger is an award given by the Crime Writers' Association for best translated crime novel of the year. The winning author receives an ornamental dagger and £5,000. The translator of the novel is awarded £1,000.
First awarded in 2006, the honor was conceived partly to recognize the contribution of the translator in international works. The first winner was French author Fred Vargas for her novel The Three Evangelists, translated by Siân Reynolds. They were received the award in 2008 also.
In 2009 the prize was renamed the International Dagger when Duncan Lawrie Bank withdrew from sponsorship. That year the CWA awarded it to Fred Vargas and Siân Reynolds for the third time.
