Rebecca McClanahan is the current Democratic Representative of the second district of the Missouri House of Representatives, including parts of Putnam, Sullivan, and Adair counties. She won the 2006 election to the open seat that was vacated by Republican Bob Behnen in his failed attempt at the eighteenth district Missouri Senate seat. Background

Rebecca Payne McClanahan lives in Kirksville, Missouri with her husband Marvin and two sons, Andrew and Bryan. She was born October 23, 1951 in Moberly, Missouri. She is a professor of nursing at Truman State University and a mental health nursing consultant. She has taught at Truman for over 30 years, after graduating from the former Northeast Missouri, now Truman, with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1975. She went on to earn her Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Missouri–Columbia in 1982 and then Doctoral Candidacy at the University of Kansas. Legislative History

During the 94th General Assembly regular session, McClanahan sponsored House Bill 627, which "requires the installation of carbon monoxide detection devices in certain residential properties." [http://house.mo.gov/bills071/bills/HB627.htm] This bill has been read and is currently in the House Committee on Crime Prevention and Public Safety. She also cosponsored 37 other bills and one proposed constitutional amendment.McClanahan serves on the Committee of Agriculture Policy, the Appropriations Committee for Health, Mental Health, and Social Services, and the Committee for Higher Education.
