Jhalod is a town in
Dahod district ,Gujarat ,India . It is situated on the eastern border of the Gujarat 5 km far fromRajasthan border near theTitodi River .History
In the
11th century , a youngparma rajput fromChandravati settled there. He gave his name to the city.Jhalod was one of the many towns which took part in the struggle for independence at large. When Gandhiji started
dandi kuch , many of the freedom fighters from Jhalod joined him and way back, they brought the salt from Dandi. The main residential area called Mitha Chowk named after their memoir.Jhalod was also leading the fight against the Chief Minister Chimanbhai Patel when Navnirman movement started in 1972. in 1992, when Babri Masjid was demolished by Hindu activists, communal riots took a big toll o the city. Many people died while many homes and business were burnt and destroyed.

The primari school (seen in the picture) located near Bus Station area is named Manilal Chunilal Prathamik Shala named after one Vanik Business man who donated money to build this school. After serving for 35 years as a teacher, Currently Ms. Jayshree Desai is serving as Principal of this school.
In the same compound where the Primary School is located, there are other schools as well such as a Middle school (5th to 7th grade), a Secondary School (8th to 10th grade) and a Higher Secondary School (11th and 12 grade). The Secondary and Higher Secondary school a.k.a B M High School, won the Best School Award in the entire Gujarat State in the year of 1992.
The main attraction of Jhalod is a tower situated in Vadbazar Area. This tower is 50 feet tall and costs over 50 lakhs rupees. Ramsagar talav is also worth visit place in this small town.
