Diplomatic missions of Iceland

thumb|right|300px|Countries with Icelandic diplomatic missions.">legend|#ff0000|Icelandlegend|#007f0f|EmbassyIceland has a very small network of diplomatic missions. However, it has a Consulate General in Winnipeg, serving the large number of Manitobans with Icelandic heritage, and was the first state, in 2007, to open a Diplomatic Mission (Consulate General) in Tórshavn in the autonomous Faroe Islands, due to the close relations Iceland enjoys with the islands; historically, economically and culturally.

In 2001 Iceland took the unique step of opening its first Embassy in Africa in Maputo, Mozambique, but later moved its Ambassador to Pretoria, where it opened a new Embassy and from where the Ambassador is accredited to Mozambique. The Embassy in Maputo is since then headed by a Chargé d'Affaires. The only other non-African state to open its first Embassy in Africa in Mozambique is Timor-Leste.

Iceland has two separate Missions in both Brussels and New York. In Brussels, the Embassy also functions as a Mission to the European Union, but a separate Delegation, accredited to NATO, is housed elsewhere. In New York City, Iceland has a Permanent Mission to the UN and separately, a Consulate General where the trade representative to the US and Canada also has offices.

The embassies in Italy, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka and Uganda are all headed by Chargés d'Affaires.
