KPXC first went on the air
September 10 ,1987 as KUBD. Originally, the station aired financial news during the day and various shows at night. When theFinancial News Network ended broadcasts in 1989 (after being absorbed byCNBC ), it became the original Denver-area affiliate forTelemundo . Paxson Communications bought KUBD in 1996 and changed itscall letters to KPXC-TV onFebruary 2 ,1998 .For about two years early in the 2000s, KPXC carried select games of the
Colorado Avalanche hockey team.When NBC partnered with Pax TV in the late 1990s, KPXC rebroadcast KUSA's 6:00 & 10:00PM newscasts Monday through Friday. This ended in 2005, when NBC ended its agreement with Pax.
