Meganebashi - Isahaya Park

Meganebashi - Isahaya Park

Meganebashi or "spectacles bridge" is a double arch stone bridge spanning a pond in Isahaya Park (also called Tsutsuji or Azalea Park) in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. The bridge is twice the size of the "spectacles bridge" in Nagasaki city. The bridge was originally built over the Honmyo river in 1839. It was moved to the park because it created a dam in the river due to its great strength and increased damage in the great flood of 1957. It was designated as an Important Cultural Asset in 1958.
