Brian J. Coyle (
25 June ,1944 -23 August ,1991 ) was an American community leader and gay activist. He was born inGreat Falls, Montana , raised inMoorhead, Minnesota and studied at theUniversity of Minnesota . Coyle was a member of Students for a Democratic Society and a writer for theMinnesota Daily . He originated the Free University, directed the National Campaign to Impeach Nixon, and founded the Progressive Roundtable. Coyle served three terms on theMinneapolis City Council where he concentrated on housing, human rights, the environment and transportation and served as council vice president.cite web

On Monday September 22nd 2008, Ahmed Nur Ali, a Somali-American student of Augsburg College was shot and killed volunteering for the Brian Coyle community.Notes
