William Staite Murray (1881 - 1962) was an English
studio potter .He was born in
Deptford ,London and attended pottery classes atCamberwell College of Arts from 1909 - 1912 and set up his own pottery inRotherhithe , London in the premises of his brother's engineering and foundry works in 1919.He was appointed Head of Ceramics at
The Royal College of Art London in 1926.
