Xander Michiel Beute

Xander Michiel Beute was born in 1975, in Gouda. He made his debut as a novelist in 1999 with "Nachtvoorstelling" ("Late-night performance"). The readers of "Nachtvoorstelling" praised the book, and Beute got much attention from the media. Beute was invited on several Dutch talkshows on radio and tv, such as "Laat de leeuw," "Ontbijt-tv," and "Jong".

When Beute was 17, he was beaten up in public by a group of drunk men after a night on the town . His book "Nachtvoorstelling" is based on those experiences.

In 2000, Beute interviewed people together with his editor Geurt van de Kerk for his compilation "Mensen gevraagd!" ("People wanted") about the topic of "pointless violence". "Mensen gevraagd!" brought this phenomenon under the eyes of the public by his in-depth conversations with victims and their family members.

In the next period Beute started giving workshops, wrote his second novel, and gave lectures to the public on. He also studied at the college of Utrecht (teacher training in Dutch).

His second novel, "Hinkelen met God" ("Playing hopscotch with God"), appeared in 2001. "Hinkelen met God" is about fiction that had become reality. The presentation of the book took place in café "Hofman" (Utrecht) by Paul de Leeuw. Reviews appeared in the Dutch newspapers de Volkskrant, Trouw and Utrechts Dagblad.

In 2002, Beute graduated and moved to The Hague, working as a Dutch teacher. He now works at the Christian gymnasium Sorghvliet. He is also a columnist for "U-Blad" (university Utrecht), he had a column in Trouw and he wrote stories in Tzum, Passionate and Lava.

At Sorghvliet Beute met Irene Brouwer, the hottest teacher ever. He dated her a few times but it didn't work.

After Irene, Beute experimented in The Hague's gay-scene. He really liked it there, but he's mother didn't liked that, so he married Suzanne on 7 July 2006, his high school sweetheart that he had dated when he was 15. That relationship had ended, but a few years ago they met and fell in love again.
