Adelaide Avenue/Yarra Glen
- Adelaide Avenue/Yarra Glen
Adelaide Avenue is a freeway linking up Woden Valley in the South West to Parliament House in South Canberra. It is a popular tourist route as tourists travelling from Parliament house travel past the lodge which is the residence of the Australian Prime Minister and the Royal Australian Mint in Yarralumla.
Adelaide Avenue has a speed limit of 80 km/h in which many Canberrans feel is inappropriate considering it is a 3 lane carriageway in each direction for a majority of the freeway. The far right lane was used as a bus lane until December 2006, but due to population growth in the southern suburbs this lane got changed to a T2 lane that allows any vehicle with at least 2 occupants to travel in that lane along with buses and taxis.
