International Diving Institute

The [http://www.internationaldivinginstitute.com| International Diving Institute] (IDI) was founded in 1996 and offers advanced dive training, especially in the use of surface supplied air, underwater welding, rigging, hyperbaric chamber operation, etc. leading to the certification required for all commercial divers working on any oil platform in the offshore oil industry and for all dive operations in the United States that are regulated by OSHA.

IDI is not simply one of the thousands of schools for Scuba instruction. It is one of fewer than a dozen professional diving colleges currently operating in North America. It is a member of [http://www.adc-usa.org Association of Diving Contractors International] (ADC) and trains to the Standards published by the [http://www.acde.us Association of Commercial Diving Educators] (ACDE), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the Sea Research Society (SRS).

Courses

IDI offers a 640 hour [http://www.internationaldivinginstitute.com/oldsite/CourseOutline.htm basic course] as well as [http://www.internationaldivinginstitute.com/oldsite/Electives.htm advanced courses and electives] .

The Institute (in conjunction with the Sea Research Society) is now offering a series of research, field and classroom courses leading to various levels of certification in underwater archaeology. The field programs offer students the opportunity to actually work on historic shipwrecks and other archaeological sites.
