Victor Lazzarini, born in
Londrina ,Brazil in 1969, is acomposer andcomputer music researcher living inIreland . After studyingmusic in the local conservatory, Victor went on to study for hisB.Mus. (Composition) at theState University of Campinas (UNICAMP ), where he graduated in 1993. As an undergraduate, he studied withAlmeida Prado ,Damiano Cozzella ,Livio Tragtenberg andRaul do Valle . In 1993 he was awarded ascholarship to pursue hisDoctorate at theUniversity of Nottingham , where he studied withNick Sackman . In 1997, he went to work as a post-doctoral researcher at theUniversidade Estadual de Londrina and in 1998 he was appointed Lecturer in Music at theNational University of Ireland, Maynooth .At the NUIM, where he is now a Senior Lecturer, he created the Music Technology Laboratory and introduced postgraduate and undergraduate degrees in Computer Music and Music Technology. Victor is also associated with the new music ensemble
ElectroAcoustic Revue (EAR) , dedicated toelectroacoustic music .Works
Writing instrumental, electroacoustic and mixed works, Victor has an eclectic style, varying from
Jazz -inspired pieces (The Trane Thing, 2000),acousmatic (Voices Inside, 1996, Mouvements, 2003) to largeorchestra l (Magnificat, 1996) andchamber music (Time-Lines I-IV, 2003-6). His music is available from theContemporary Music Centre, Dublin .Research
As a researcher, his work is mostly dedicated to Musical
Signal Processing and Computer Music Languages and he is one of the developers ofCsound and theSound Object (SndObj) Library .External links
