Fauji Foundation College for Boys & Girls are institutions of excellence. The colleges offer education at the Intermediate Level with English as medium of instruction. Admission in these institutions is competitive. For admission in Class XI, the lowest threshold stands at 80% in Pre-Engineering / Pre-Medical and 65 - 70% in General Science / Humanities Groups.

Fauji Foundation College is situated in a spacious scenic campus located in New Lalazar, Rawalpindi - the outskirts of Islamabad, Pakistan. The new Islamabad Defense Housing Authority (DHA) is also situated in the same area.

Fauji Foundation College for Boys

Fauji Foundation College for Boys has the distinction of being a pioneer institution of the Fauji Foundation Educational System. Established in 1982 as a Model High School, the College over the years has shown remarkable results in both Secondary and Higher Secondary level Examinations. The College has been zealously maintaining the distinction of achieving a high GPA. Two students of the College secured 2nd and 3rd Positions in the Higher Secondary Examinations in the year 2006. The College offers a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Its students secured First position and Second position in National English Debate Competition, First position in National Squash and Second position in National Table Tennis Competitions.

Fauji Foundation College for Girls

Located in the same campus (New Lalazar) facility is Fauji Foundation College for Girls. Established in 1989, the College has attained a stature as an institution par excellence. In 2003, it was declared as the best affiliated institution for obtaining the top GPA for five consecutive years. In the year 2006, the College secured First Position in Intermediate Examination in Pre-Medical Group, Second and Third Positions in Pre-Engineering Group. During the same year, Second Position in Humanities Group was clinched. It has also achieved distinction in sports and co-curricular activities with its students repeatedly bagging top positions in Federal Board Competitions. Students from the College have consistently won top honor in debates. In 2006, the College won the Bi-lingual Debate Trophy in the Colleges as well as the Federal Board Debate Competitions. Two girls from the College had the honor of being amongst the four students selected through the National Science Talent Competition to represent Pakistan in the International Science Talent Contest in the discipline of Biology in Argentina in 2006. In 2003, the Principal of the College was amongst the 125 prominent personalities nominated as ‘Leaders of New Millennium’, by ‘South Asia Publications, a Non-Government Organization. She also had the distinction of being one of the seven from amongst these distinguished personalities to be awarded a Gold Medal in recognition of her outstanding services in the field of education.

History

Fauji Foundation College is a subsidiary of Fauji Foundation; a non-profit organization, established as a charitable trust in 1954, and operating on a completely self sustaining basis, channels approximately 80% of the profits from commercial ventures into social protection programs that serve a beneficiary population representing approximately 7% of the country’s population.

The charter for Fauji Foundation College-as mandated by Fauji Foundation Board of Directors-is to provide high quality education in a disciplined environment to students from the greater Islamabad area and to children of armed services professionals throughout Pakistan. The institution has day-scholars commuting daily to the campus from nearby areas and boarders-from throughout Pakistan-who reside in hostels and boarding facilities. Fauji Foundation College carries a reputation among the best educational institutions of Pakistan. It is known as an institution where high academic standards are achieved, where students strive to achieve, and where discipline is the hallmark. Fauji Foundation College also caters to the needs of the military and armed services elite working in the nearby Pakistan Army General Head Quarters (GHQ). Moreover, the head of Fauji Foundation College typically belongs to the Pakistan Army.

The first class of Fauji Foundation College graduated in 1990. The first principal of Fauji Foundation College was the renowned educator Syed Dilshad Hussain. Mr. Dilshad established Fauji Foundation College to be a tier 1 educational institution in Pakistan. Mr. Dilshad later accepted an a distinguished position as the Principal of the renowned Cadet College Hasan Abdal.

Discipline and ethics

Fauji Foundation College emphasizes in producing graduates that adhere to ethics and contribute to nation building. Considerable attention is given to the moral, intellectual, physical, emotional and social development of the student. Qualities of enthusiasm, initiative, morality, considerate behavior, and discipline are emphasized. Individual effort is rewarded and teamwork is developed throughout the College. Independence and interdependence are valued norms. Good order and just discipline are norms that are the basis of the student community. The aim of discipline at Fauji Foundation College is to encourage the development of self-discipline amongst each individual. Students are expected at all times to behave courteously, honestly and sensibly.

Curriculum

Fauji Foundation College aims at a broad view of the curriculum. It does not regard its main purpose only to examine, grade or certificate its students. The aim of the curriculum is to not only act within the spirit of the syllabi laid down by the relevant public examination and other authorities, but to offer more to the students, taking full advantage of the independent nature of the institution.

Campus facilities

Taking advantage of its 100-acre campus, Fauji Foundation College is well equipped with sporting grounds, spacious academic wings, auditorium, boys hostels, a mosque, and cafeteria. All the major sporting activities are available to students. Sporting facilities include: Cricket Ground, Tennis Courts, Squash Courts, Basketball Courts, and a Gymnasium. Compulsory participation in games has been a strong tradition. Games are supervised and there are regular opportunities to play formal matches within and outside the college. The academic wings have classrooms, examination halls, teaching and research laboratories, workshops, computer centers, and offices for the faculty and staff.Boarders are allotted rooms in the shared hostel and will share accommodation with other students. The rooms in the hostels are equipped with modern furniture and attached bathroom. The furniture consists of carpeting, study table, a bed with a mattress and pillow, a study chair, a shelf, and a wall cupboard. Sports complex is located in close proximity of the Boys Hostels.
