Independent Local Radio station forMilton Keynes and NorthBuckinghamshire . Broadcasting on 103.3FM from the Bow Brickhill transmitter, it plays a mix of music from the 1980's, 1990's and Today. It is part ofGlobal Radio 's One Network. The station's flagship shows are 'Wes and Ros at Breakfast' and 'Drivetime with Joe', fronted by Joe Rudd. In line with the GCap network, the station broadcasts national shows such as 'Kevin Hughes in the Evening' and 'The Wind Down' with Cat James.The station was launched as Horizon Radio by Chris Pearson in October 1989 as sister station to neighbouring Chiltern Radio. It was subsequently rebranded as 'The Hotter Mix' and FM 103. The first song played was "The Only Way Is Up" by Yazz and the Plastic Population. The station was later re-branded as FM 103 Horizon before changing to Horizon Radio in 2006. The tagline of the station has now reverted back to "More Music Variety" in line with the rest of the GCap network.
The name Horizon has no real significance, although it was thought that its coverage area only extended out as far as
Milton Keynes ' city limits; realistically can be heard as far north asCorby Fact|date=February 2007.During the 2008-09 football season, Horizon secured a deal with the
MK Dons football club to broadcast live match commentary for both home and away matches; the Dons competing in theCoca-Cola League 1 . Commentary is provided by Horizon's Mike Burrows.External links
