Birkenhead ferry wharf, Sydney

Birkenhead Ferry Wharf is a commuter wharf serving the suburb of Birkenhead Point in Sydney, Australia. It serves the Birkenhead Ferry route where all services terminate at this wharf, and operates between here and Circular Quay.

Birkenhead Wharf is close to Birkenhead Point Factory Outlet Centre, which is about a minute walk away. Other attractions near the wharf include the views of the harbour and the Iron Cove Bridge.

The wharf is not wheelchair accessible, has no seating and is not staffed at any time. A timetable, notice board, light and emergency button and buoy is available on the wharf.

* Birkenhead Ferry - terminating services; services to Circular Quay.

There are eight services to and from Circular Quay every weekday, and there are no services on weekends or public holidays. There is one direct service to Birkenhead Point from the city at 8.40am and one direct service to the city at 5.06 pm. Other services stop at Balmain East, Balmain, Birchgrove, Balmain West, McMahons Point and/or Milsons Point.

All services depart from and arrive at Wharf 5 at Circular Quay. Travel time is 20-30 minutes, depending on stopping patterns.

Transport connections

The wharf has no adjoining interchange, but a stop exists nearby on Victoria Road, about a two minute walk away. There are up to twenty Sydney Buses services which run from the city to various locations in inner western Sydney, including Ryde, Parramatta and Macquarie University that use the stop.
