Geography

Carriçal features farmlands in the valley areas. Desert lands, which cover almost the entire municipality, dominate the area and the slopes of the valley with some grasslands and bushes, vegetation and forest found within the parish. The mountain cliffs lie around the area as well as within the Atlantic Ocean. Cliffs and steep, treacherous ledges dominate the area. Monte Bissau is to the north of the area.

Information

Most of the houses are built with mud-brick and stone; the rest are concrete or sand with stone, or brick and steel reinforced concrete. The area is considered part of the island's low class. Some necessities and materials for the needy come from the island's capital and the diaspora. Other needs such as electricity, communications, appliances and street lights are partially available in the area, as well as phone lines since the late-20th century.

Panorama

The village offers a view of parts of the island and of the Atlantic Ocean.
