A4135 road

A4135 road

The A4135 road is a roadway in Gloucestershire whose eastern terminus is in the town of Tetbury. The road is a two lane paved facility which proceeds northwestly from Tetbury to terminate immediately west of its crossing with the M5 motorway. Other communities through which this road passes are Beverston, Dursley and Lower Cam. Considerable ancient history underlies the locale of this road, the earliest recorded such history dates to the second century AD, as recorded by the Greek writer Ptolemy. The earliest British tribes inhabiting this area are known to have been the "dobunni" and the "cornovii". Roman relics have been found in the vicinity of the roadway right-of-way at Calcot Manor, approximately three kilometres west of Tetbury. In the year 2001 a speed camera was installed at Dursley with an associated speed limit zone of 30 miles per hour.
