Ingvar Yaroslavich (Ингварь Ярославич in Russian) (? - ?),
Prince of Dorogobuzh, Prince ofLutsk ,Grand Prince ofKiev (1202 and 1214), Prince ofVolodymyr-Volynskyi (1207). Son ofYaroslav Izyaslavich , great-grandson ofVladimir Monomakh .In 1180, Ingvar Yaroslavich joined
Ryurik Rostislavich in his struggle againstSviatoslav Vsevolodovich ofChernihiv . According to theTale of Igor's Campaign , Ingvar was a brave man, however, he never wanted to irritate his powerful neighbors. In 1183, for instance, Ingvar refused to accommodateVladimir Yaroslavich inDorogobuzh , who had been banished fromHalych . It appears that Ingvar was wary ofYaroslav Osmomysl , Vladimir Yaroslavich's father. Soon after this, Ingvar took place of his older brotherVsevolod Yaroslavich as the ruler ofLutsk . In 1202, Ingvar was appointed ruler of Kiev instead of the ousted Ryurik Rostislavich in accordance with a deal betweenRoman Mstislavich ofHalych andVsevolod the Big Nest ,Grand Prince ofVladimir . Ryurik, however, would regain Kiev that same year with the help of the Olgovichs andpolovtsy . In 1204, Ingvar took part in capturing the city ofVolodymyr-Volyns'kyi together withAlexander of Bielz . He was appointed ruler of the city on the spot, but was soon replaced by Alexander due toboyar s' discontent. In 1208-1211, Ingvar sent his son to assistDaniil Romanovich in his struggle against the sons ofIgor Sviatoslavich ofNovhorod-Siverskyi . In 1212, Ingvar andMstislav Romanovich attackedVsevolod Sviatoslavich and captured Kiev. After a battle near Bilhorod (currently Bilohorodka,Ukraine ), Ingvar voluntarily ceded Kiev to Mstislav Romanovich and left for Lutsk.Ingvar Yaroslavich had three sons:
Vladimir Ingvarevich ,Yaroslav Ingvarevich andIziaslav Ingvarevich .
