Basil Theodorocanus ( _it. Teodoro Cano) briefly served as Byzantine
Catepan of Italy . He was apatrician and a former companion in arms ofGeorge Maniaches when he was appointed to go toApulia andCalabria and put down the revolts of Maniaches andArgyrus in 1042. In February 1043, he landed atBari . Argyrus and hisNormans tried to surroundOtranto , but the catepan's fleet blocked them. Maniaches, however, debarked forDurazzo with his army. Argyrus eventually made peace with the Greeks and Theodorocanus was replaced byEustathios Palatinos .ources
