- Low-Country Messiahs
The Low-Country Messiahs is the musical project of
Sub Pop recording artistGreen Magnet School alumni Robert Hamilton. He has released two full-length albums and appears on several compilations. Hamilton plays cigar box guitars using open tunings and bottleneck slide. The music has been characterized variously as primitive rock,psych folk , and ambient blues.Borrowing stylistically from
Delta blues ,hokum , early rock 'n' roll,American folk music revival , Nuggets-erapsychedelia , and African-Americanspirituals , the music leans towardslo-fi experimental textures and soundscapes.The Low-Country Messiahs made their live debut in 2004 as the opening act for
Seekonk . Other appearances have included supportingDitty Bops andBlanche .Hamilton is featured in "Songs Inside the Box", a PBS documentary by film maker Max Shores.
