village inŁomża County ,Podlaskie Voivodeship , in north-easternPoland . It is the seat of thegmina (administrative district) calledGmina Piątnica . It lies approximately convert|4|km|mi|0 north ofŁomża and convert|73|km|mi|0|abbr=on west of the regional capitalBiałystok .In 2006 the village had a population of 1,800.
The village is a suburb of Łomża that lies directly across the
Narew River from the city. It was founded by Janusz from Zaborowo who built also the first church (1407). The village has a Neo-Gothic church (1931),which was destroyed during the Second World War and reconstructed after that. There are also Russian forts from the 19th century and the First World War.References
