bobtail squid native to the northwesternAtlantic Ocean . Its natural range covers the eastern coast ofNorth America , from the northernGulf of Maine to theGulf of Mexico and theCaribbean Sea . "S. tenera" is possibly also present in the southwestern Atlantic, specifically off the coasts ofSuriname ,French Guiana ,Brazil , and Uruguay, although the latter records are questionable.Reid, A. & P.
