Eddie Bovington (born
April 23 1941 in Edmonton,London ) is an English former footballer who played for West Ham United as awing-half .Bovington played Junior football with West Ham, and was a member of the
FA Youth Cup Final team of 1958-59 alongsideBobby Moore ,Harry Cripps andJack Burkett . After signing for the senior team, he made his League debut against Manchester United in 1960. Bovington made 138 League appearances for West Ham, scoring a single goal (against Nottingham Forest on26 October 1966 at Upton Park). He also made 45 cup appearances, including the 1964FA Cup Semi-final where heman-mark edBobby Charlton . He scored in a League Cup game against Cardiff City, a 5-2 home win on20 December 1965 .Bovington retired from the game at the age of 28 and joined the
rag trade . He became a keen marathon runner and member of Woodford Green Athletics Club. He managed 2 hours, 56 minutes and 10 seconds at the 1990London Marathon .References
