The railway was opened on 4 December 1910, as an expansion of the railway between Kongsvinger and
Flisa that opened in 1893. TheTrondheim express trains on the Røros Line went via the Solør Line in the periods 1943–1946] and 1986–1989, while the night train also operated in the period 1986–1991.
