Gehan Mendis

Gehan Dixon Mendis (born April 24, 1955 in Colombo, Sri Lanka) was an opening batsman for Sussex County Cricket Club (1973 to 1985) and Lancashire County Cricket Club (1986 to 1993).

Born in Sri Lanka (long before that country achieved Test Status), on his record he was arguably unlucky not to play international cricket for England. In first-class matches he scored 21,436 runs at an average of 36.83, with 41 centuries and a highest score of 209 not out.
