Caravaggio in1601 to paint "The Entombment of Christ" as an altarpiece for the church ofSanta Maria in Vallicella . [F. Haskell, p. 70.]The church had been re-built by
Saint Phillip Neri for hisOratorian order, and Vittrice was the nephew of a friend of Saint Phillip's.Vittrice is also known to have been, in 1620, the owner of Caravaggio's The Fortune Teller.
