Carol Plantamura (b.
February 8 ,1941 ,Los Angeles, California ) is an American soprano specializing in 17th and 20th century music.She graduated from
Occidental College and was an original member of theRockefeller Foundation -funded Creative Associates atSUNY Buffalo , under the direction ofLukas Foss . She has collaborated with such composers asLuciano Berio ,Pierre Boulez ,Vinko Globokar ,Pauline Oliveros ,Lukas Foss ,Betsy Jolas ,Will Ogdon ,Bernard Rands ,Frederic Rzewski , andRobert Erickson . Beginning in1966 , she was an original member of the improvising electronic music collectiveMusica Elettronica Viva in Rome, Italy.Plantamura joined the staff of the
University of California, San Diego in1978 and also serves on the San Diego Early Music Society (SDEMS) Advisory Panel [http://www.sdems.org/about.html] .She made six recordings for
Composers Recordings, Inc. , and has recorded forWergo , DGG, Fonit/Cetra, and Leonarda.Books
