anime andmanga versions of Black Cat. He is a sweeper and Train's partner, and he befriends Eve and treats her like a person instead of a weapon. He, Eve and Train work together. He has an eye that can see several seconds into the future, but it puts a strain on him. He has a good eye for details, noticing Rinslet's gun and wig when he first meets her. He never leaves a woman in need.__TOC__

Sven is a veteran sweeper, who takes the role of a mature figure in the manga. He follows a strict code of chivalry; he is always respectful to women and children and acts very proper. He is often tortured by Train's capricious personality and is usually dragged into trouble (and debt) because of it. He also has a close relationship with Eve.
Sven is also skilled in inventing and making innovative weapons and other various equipment. This includes bombs and special bullets for Train. Sven's weapon of choice was originally a normal pistol, but after that was destroyed, he invented the Attaché Weapon Case, a suitcase equipped with hidden weaponry inside of it. He occasionally uses his Vision Eye, which is usually covered by his black eye patch. It allows him to see a few seconds in the future and proves convenient sometimes, however, it drains much of his physical energy.
In the past, Sven was originally an IBI (International Bureau of Investigation) detective. His partner was Lloyd Goldwynne, who had the ability of clairvoyance. One night after work, Sven was confronted by members of the Bernado family. One member attacked him from behind with a wrench, bashing his right eye in. They then called Lloyd with Sven's cell phone and lured him to the warehouse where they were holding Sven captive. When Lloyd arrived at the warehouse, the thugs announced their intent to kill the both of them, and Lloyd told Sven to take his gun. He jumped in front of the oncoming bullets, giving Sven an opening to take down the Bernados. A week before his death, Lloyd registered to become an organ donor. The night he died, Sven received the Vision Eye, the source of his foreseeing ability.
Before setting out to Clarken Island with Train and the Sweeper's Alliance, Sven decides to do some training on his own. With Rinslet's help, he uses his homemade cannonball launcher, Heaven's Thunder, to improve the quality of his vision eye. It morphs into something all it's own, however; an ability Sven calls "Grasper Eye". The Grasper Eye allows him to see things in slow motion for about five seconds and, while it is less draining than the Vision Eye, it still takes a toll on his body. He first uses the ability in Chapter 141 during his fight with Deek Slasky.

Likewise with Train, Sven's backstory remained more or less the same. However he appears to be the main comedic relief in the Anime. Also, Sven never went through intensive training before the assault on Clarken Island, and as such his Vision Eye never became the Grasper Eye, however during the battle with Preta Ghoul his Vision Eye has the effects of the Grasper Eye. Sven is also many times referred to as "old man", even though he's only 30. This might be a result from his attitude of a gentleman which practically turns him into the most careful of the show's characters. Sven, together with Train, saves Eve. When Eve asks Sven if he's going to look for Train, he replies that he doesn't need to, as he's a stray cat, and they'll eventually meet.
The comic relief treatment given to Sven may be a nod to Fujiwara's tendency to voice comic roles, e.g. Maes Hughes in Full Metal Alchemist and Reno in Advent Children.
