Alderson won her first major pageant title in 1994 when she was crowned
Miss Tennessee Teen USA . She went on to compete in theMiss Teen USA 1994 pageant held inBiloxi, Mississippi in August 1994. Alderson placed as the highest of the top twelve after the preliminary competition, second during the finals interview competition, third in finals swimsuit and seventh in evening gown which ranked her fourth going in to the final interview round, eventually finishing among the top six. Later that year she crownedLynnette Cole as the new Miss Tennessee Teen USA; Cole would later win the Miss Tennessee USA and Miss USA 2000 titles.In 1999, Alderson won the Miss Memphis local title and then the

Miss Tennessee USA title on her first attempt, becoming one of the first women to win state titles in all three systems. She was the second former Miss Tennessee Teen USA and the third Miss Tennessee to win the Miss Tennessee USA title. Her sister titleholder, Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2002, wasRachel Smith , who would later hold the Miss Tennessee USA 2007 title. Alderson competed in theMiss USA 2002 pageant broadcast live fromGary, Indiana in March 2002, but did not place. The pageant was won byShauntay Hinton of the District of Columbia. She passed on her title in late 2002, to Beth Hood, who had also succeeded her as Miss Tennessee. The following year Hood crownedStephanie Culberson as Miss Tennessee USA 2004; she had crowned Culberson Miss Tennessee. This is the first time that consecutive three Miss America state titleholders have held the same Miss USA state title in succession. Alderson was one of two women who earned Triple Crown winner status in 2002, for holding state titles in the Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and Miss America systems. Alderson grew up in
Jackson, Tennessee and is a graduate of the University School of Jackson. She graduated cum laude with a degree in business administration. fromRhodes College in 1999, where she served as president of theChi Omega sorority. She won the Wall Street Journal Award for Excellence in Finance because she was the top finance student in her graduating class. As part of the Bryce Harlow Institute of Business and Government Affairs she has also studied atGeorgetown University inWashington, DC . May 15 2004 , Alderson marriedJay DeMarcus , bassist/pianist in the bandRascal Flatts . She is a regular host and co-host of the Miss Tennessee pageant. In January, Allison served as the Roving Reporter for the 2007 Miss America Pageant. Mario Lopez served as host. She was CMT's pageant correspondent for the Miss America pageant and filmed a behind-the-scenes look for CMT Insider. Allison serves as guest host of CMT Insider, as well as serving as "Style Judge" for CMT's Karaoke Dokey. She hosted the Red Carpet Show for the CMT Music Awards live from Nashville, Tennessee. She hosted "The Life, The Legend, The King: A Tribute to Elvis Presley" and the CMA Red Carpet show, both for TVGuide Network. Alderson will be featured on CMT's 100 Greatest Videos and CMT's 40 Sexiest Videos and is currently a correspondent for CMT Insider. She is also the host of "People Magazine on CMT."References
