Rick Burgess (politician)

Rick Burgess (born May 9, 1950 in Barrie, Ontario) is a Canadian lawyer and community volunteer. His community involvement has included:Member of the Halton Regional Police Services Board (appointed for 2 three year terms in 2004 and 2007, Vice Chair in both terms);Chair of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce (2005/6);Founding member of Performing Arts Burlington and Vice Chair of the Board for several years;President, Burlington Art Centre (2002/3; 2003/4);Member of the Burlington Downtown Business Association;Member of the Board of Management, Tansley Wood Community Centre (2000/03);Member of the Board of Directors, Summit House (1998/2000);Member of Refugee Placement Committee,Port Nelson United Church 1998/2000);

He ran for mayor of Burlington, Ontario in 2006, finishing third and capturing almost a third of the vote. He is a lawyer practising business law in Burlington. Burgess attended the University of Western Ontario's Ivey School of Business and University of Toronto law school.
