Honley is a large village in West Yorkshire, England near to Holmfirth and Huddersfield situated on the banks of the River Holme in the Holme Valley. It has a population of 5,897 according to the 2001 census.

Education

There are three schools in the village. Honley Infant and Nursery School for ages 3-7, Honley Junior School for ages 7-11, and Honley High School which after abolishing it's sixth form college is now for ages 11-16 (source: [http://www.kirklees.gov.uk/community/education-learning/education-learning.asp Kirklees Council] ).

Public transport

Rail

Honley railway station opened on 1 July 1850, on the Penistone Line. It connects the village to Huddersfield and Sheffield with an hourly service.

Road

There are regular bus services to Huddersfield, Holmfirth and Meltham. Most bus services are operated by the First Group and "K-Line" (also known as "Teamdeck") who are based in the village.

Cultural events

The annual [http://www.honleyshow.co.uk/ Honley Show] takes place in June. This is an event where animal lovers can bring their dogs, horses, cattle, sheep and even mice to be judged "best in show". Plus marquees, exhibitors and stallholders are present.

Honley field an U16's team in the Huddersfield and district junior league division 3 and an U18's team in division 1.
