The US Open is a darts tournament, organised by the
Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), which launched in May 2007, replacing theWorld Series of Darts which ran for one year and was cancelled as a result of poor television ratings on ESPN.The tournament is held at Mohegan Sun Casino Resort,
Connecticut , USA - which was also the venue used for theWorld Series of Darts .Phil Taylor has won both events held so far.Television coverage
The 2007 tournament was broadcast live in the UK on satellite station
Challenge , who were broadcasting a PDC tournament for the first time. Limited coverage of the event was shown on US sport channel Versus. In 2008 coverage passed toNuts TV in the UK.Format
The US Open retains a short game format throughout, sharing the same format as all of the Players Championship events on the
PDC Pro Tour - from the first round to the final each game is best of 5 sets and best of 3 legs to a set. The only exception was the 2007 final which was best of 7 sets.Results
