Welsh Open (darts)

The Welsh Open is a darts tournament organised by the World Darts Federation and affiliated with the British Darts Organisation which has been staged annually since 1988. In 2008 the tournament was televised in the United Kingdom for the first time on Setanta Sports as part of the BDO's new Grand Prix series.

Venue and sponsors

The 2008 event was staged at the Pontins holiday camp in Prestatyn, North Wales. The singles tournaments were sponsored by Red Dragon Sports and the Pontins venue sponsor the other events.

Prize fund

The 2008 event featured a mens singles, women's singles, men's pairs, women's pairs and mixed pairs events. The prize fund for the men's singles were

*Semi-finalist £500
*Quarter-finalist £150
*Last 16 £75
*Last 32 £40
