- George Gabet
The Very Reverend George Gabet, FSSP is a sometime District Superior of the
Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter in North America, and is now the chaplain for the FSSP apostolate based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.Father Gabet was born in
Fort Wayne ,Indiana where he attended Bishop Dwenger High School. Upon graduation he enteredBall State University , Indiana where he received a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in medical technology and microbiology. Following graduation he worked for five years as a medical technologist for the AmericanRed Cross . During this time Father Gabet was active inpro-life , a young men's prayer group and served as an usher for theLatin Mass in Fort Wayne. Father Gabet continued his education atIndiana University -Purdue University and was working towards a master's degree when he realized his call to seminary. In 1991 he entered St. Peter's Seminary, the Fraternity's international seminary inWigratzbad .Father Gabet was ordained to the diaconate in 1996 by Bishop
Wolfgang Haas , then Bishop of Chur-Zurich, Switzerland. In 1997 he was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John. M D'Arcy, Bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend. Following ordination Father Gabet was assigned to the Community of St. Peter in the Diocese ofTulsa ,Oklahoma . In 1998 he was transferred to St. Patrick's Parish in the Archdiocese of Omaha, Nebraska where he served for two years. Upon reassignment to the Diocese of Tulsa Father Gabet became pastor of the Parish of St. Peter where he served for three years.The North American District of the Fraternity, which maintains its headquarters in the
Diocese of Scranton ,Pennsylvania , has nearly 50 priests serving in 25 dioceses throughout the United States and Canada. The Fraternity's North American English Speaking House of Formation, Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, is located in the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska and has over 60 men in priestly studies.In February 2008, Father Gabet stepped down as District Superior and was replaced by Father Eric Flood.
