Strichen is a village in
Aberdeenshire ,Scotland . It sits on the A981, connecting it toNew Deer to the south-west andFraserburgh to the north-north-east, and the B9093, connecting it toNew Pitsligo about four miles due west. It is situated on the River Ugie at the foothills ofMormond Hill .Strichen Stone Circle to be found near to Strichen House in publicly accessible land.Strichen House is a ruin designed in 1821 by
Thomas Fraser, 12th Lord Lovat which fell into ruin in 1954. As well as a country house it was used as a base to go shooting from, a hotel and an army barracks.Scotland's First Minister,
