The International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) is a 75,000-member trade union affiliated with the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress.

The IFPTE was founded on July 1, 1918, as the American Federation of Technical Engineers. It represented engineers and draftsmen U.S. shipyards. Today, the union represents a wide variety of professionals in fields as diverse as health care, forestry, photography, public health, law, criminology, social work and clerical work. However, the majority of its members work as CAD operators; civil, electrical, industrial, mechanical, structural drafters and designers; civil, electrical, industrial, materials, mechanical, sanitary, structural and traffic engineers, associates and assistants; inspectors; quality assurance specialists; and in clerical aspects of the shipping industry.

As of 2007, Gregory Junemann is the union's president.
