Open Record Book

Open Record Book

"Open Record Book", started in 2006 as the first truly open-content and free record maintainer and source reference. While Wikipedia maintains records submitted freely, there is no organized effort to determine the veracity of submitted records as with other official record sites.

Origins

On 3 December, 2005, Ted Coombs, forensic scientist and current Guinness Record Book holder, decided to create a true open-content record site while maintaining a reviewed content format. This record resource is currently only available from the Internet but plans to publish a book are in place.

Evolution

In addition to the normal list of feats and natural records, Open Record Book also includes the unique feature of local school athletic records, something that has never been attempted in the past. While adoption has been increasing rapidly as more people become aware of this resource.

As of April 2007 Open Record Book contains over 1,170 records with links to more information.
