Charismatic Orthodox Church

The Charismatic Orthodox Church is a charismatic Christian denomination founded in 1998 in St. Augustine, Florida.^[1]

The Church's doctrinal positions are from the Eastern Orthodox tradition and the Jewish theologies of the first century believers. Its services blend Eastern Orthodox rites with Jewish influences and contemporary music. It imitates ancient worship practices and follows Eastern Orthodox traditions such as standing during worship, as pews are not used.^{[citation needed]}

The church conducts youth ministry through a childcare facility and a primary school, and offers secondary education and ministry training through its Theosis Seminary.^{[citation needed]}

The Church, led by its founder, Bishop Mark D. Kersey (born 1964), is independent and not derived from the older Eastern Orthodox Churches which are in communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople or are historically linked to it.

Congregations of the Charismatic Orthodox Church are found in Florida, Massachusetts, Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Texas; ^[2] and in the Philippines and Sierra Leone.
