Johan Motin (born October 10 1989 in Karlskoga) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing for Färjestads BK in the Swedish Elitserien. Motin is ranked a top prospect by the ISS, who in December 2007 ranked him as the 13th pick of the draft. [http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=11183&hubname=|1]

Motin joined Färjestad's junior team in 2005. But only one year later he was called up to play with Färjestad's senior team. He made his debut against Timrå IK on December 7 2006. Since that game he has become a regular player in Färjestad's line-up. During his second season in the Elitserien Motin struggled to get ice time and during December 2007 was he loaned to Bofors IK to get some more ice time and be better prepared for the World Junior Championships. After the WJC he returned to Färjestad and got an assist on a goal by Esa Pirnes in his first game back.

He represented Sweden at the 2008 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and won a silver medal. In 2007 he also represented Sweden at U18 World Championship and won a bronze medal. On June 21, 2008, the Edmonton Oilers claimed his National Hockey League rights by picking him in the fourth round of the league's entry draft, 103rd overall.
